Fred Andrle Reads for The Hospital Poets Reading Series

The Hospital Poets is a program founded in 2011 by Anna Soter, Ph.D and Emeritus Professor, The Ohio State University, in collaboration with Dr. Linda Stone, M.D., the OSU College of Medicine and the OSU COM Student Writers’ Group, a part of the Humanism in Medicine project supported by Medicine and the Arts at The Ohio State University. Dr. Soter created the Hospital Poets with the goal of bringing the transformative nature of poetry into the hospital setting. “Poetry moves us to another space, a space that brings us back to the humanity in ourselves, to our best and most authentic selves,” says Dr. Soter in explaining her vision for this new and innovative series.
Fred Andrle, The Hospital Poets’ Inaugural Poet (James Hospital, OSU, June, 2011) is returning to the series to read at the Ross Heart Hospital (OSU) on Monday, November 12. Fred’s poetry reading will be followed by a discussion session about his own work and the ways poetry can impact us in our daily lives.
The reading is open to all: medical and ancillary staff, families, patients, faculty and students in all disciplines, and the general public. Light refreshments will be available.
