Paul Reitter Named Director of the Humanities Institute

Associate Professor Reitter teaches German-Jewish Literature and Culture, German Modernism, Fin-de-siècle Vienna, Critical Theory, the Holocaust in German Literature and Film, Weimar Culture and Fascist Culture, and Literary Theory. He has written articles and essays on Freud, Kraus, Kafka, Heine, the erotics of Viennese modernism, Thomas Mann, Erich Auerbach and Edward Said, Holocaust historiography, and Jewish self-hatred. Professor Reitter has published The Anti-Journalist: Karl Kraus and Jewish Self-Fashioning in Fin-de-Siècle Europe (2008) and On the Origins of Jewish Self-Hatred (2012).
