Hopewell Culture National Historical Park Seeks Applicants for Paid Student Internship Summer 2019

Hagerty Hall
Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is seeking applicants for a paid student internship this summer. The intern will be hired as a Student Trainee (Archeological Technician) GS-0199-05 through the Pathways Internship Program. The intern will participate in a variety of archeological field and laboratory projects in the park for 6-8 weeks beginning in May 2019.

This is a great opportunity for an advanced undergraduate or graduate student with interests in archeology and the preservation and interpretation of American Indian heritage.

Applications will be accepted at www.usajobs.gov from Monday, December 31, 2018 to Monday, January 14, 2019. This job will close when we have received 100 applications, which may be sooner than the closing date.

Hopewell Culture National Historical Park preserves, protects and interprets the legacy of the Native American Hopewell culture. Nearly 2,000 years ago in present-day southern Ohio, American Indian people built dozens of monumental earthen mounds and enclosures to serve as sacred centers of community life and ceremony. Six of these remarkable sites are preserved in the park.

Park field and laboratory projects are designed to help preserve, protect and interpret this rich heritage; connecting cultures—past, present and future.

The Pathways Internship Program is open to students enrolled in a degree or certificate program on at least a half-time basis with a minimum overall 2.0 GPA. A Bachelor’s degree in archeology or anthropology or equivalent combination of education and experience is required to qualify for the GS-05 position. Completion of an archeological field school is highly desirable. Information about the Pathways Internship Program can be found at https://www.usajobs.gov/studentsandgrads/
